First year students from Langara’s Design Formation program created this extraordinary collection of paper sculptures that emulate haute couture fashion. This is a cornerstone project that explores a range of prop building techniques in the 3D Retail Design Course.

Students chose iconic designer dresses and recreated them using a selection of modest materials. This cornerstone project of Design Formation’s Retail Visual Presentation course teaches prop building, aesthetics, and creative problem solving.

Materials used: Craft paper, cardboard, coffee filters, cupcake papers, packing tape, clear tape, masking tape, thumbtacks, parcel tags, dress makers tissue, straight pins, string, and twine.

Craft Beer Fest will feature up to 30 craft breweries along with local wineries for guests to sample the diverse craft drafts and vinos being developed within the Lower Mainland's backdoor. Check back soon for a listing of participating vendors.

The Big Red Barns play host to the largest variety of barn animals found in Vancouver as well as many unique demonstrations and displays of new urban agriculture awareness, education and engagement so you can learn what can easily be done from your own home. From backyard bees to eating local. And don’t miss the PNE Chef’s Garden initiative. We’ve got baby chicks and racing pigs, the Discovery Farm and milking demonstrations. There’s tons of barn fun for kids and the whole family at Farm Country.

Can’t make it all the way to Toronto…this is an opportunity to explore the largest Hockey Hall of Fame exhibition outside the walls of the Hockey Hall of Fame itself. With more than 5,000 square feet of artifacts, artwork, photography and video, this unique retrospective will take both young and old for a walk down memory lane. Featuring content from some of the game’s greatest players to ever lace up the skates, the colourful array of artifacts and video reminiscing from their careers will be sure to provoke nostalgic feelings and inspire future generations of young athletes.

The Kidz Discovery Farm allows children to ‘become a farmer’ for a short time while learning about 10 exciting agriculture sectors and how their food gets from the farm to your local grocery store! Kids are put to work at various pretend play farm chores such as milking a cow, pedaling a tractor, collecting eggs and harvesting apples while moving from farm to farm! This fun-filled activity has received rave reviews and continues to entertain and educate kids each year!

Learn how to fish in Sanctuary Pond from Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC staff! Participants of all ages can learn the basics of fishing including: hatchery roles, local conservation concerns, fishing equipment, casting, and how to rig your rod. Youth under 16 and participants 16 and older with a valid freshwater fishing licence can also try their luck fishing off the dock on Sanctuary Pond.

The Marketplace at the Forum building has been a well-known PNE tradition for years. Visitors can spend hours browsing and exploring more than 150 exhibit booths carrying everything from soaps, bed sheets & pillows, massage cushions & chairs, cosmetics, skin care, fashion, special appliances and cleaning supplies to exciting new products such as a turbo brush power cleaner, karaoke mic, garage door organizer and patio umbrellas. Plus, new this year! Magic magnets and micro blocks for kids!

The PNE is proud partner with the Reel Youth to create a short film competition featuring videos made by youth 18 years and under. Animation programs will engage Vancouver youth to produce a series of short animation films that amplify and celebrate “what makes Canada great” in honor of Canada’s 150th celebration.

Reel Youth is a not-for-profit, media empowerment project supporting youth, adults and organizations to create and distribute engaging films about the issues they care about most. Guest will be able to Text-to-Vote for their favorite film and a chance to win some cool prizes.

These impressive models are so true to the real life that you’ll be able to clearly see their exaggerated features and texture. A stroll through Xtreme Bugs will give you the sense of being enveloped by insects, possibly providing you with the closest experience you’ll ever have with many of the unique species. So be warned, this new Xtreme exhibit is not recommended for anyone suffering from Entomophobia!
